McWhorter is fascinated with the juxtaposition of color and nature and words which she interprets in both realistic and experimental work. She continues to enrich traditional calligraphy with extraordinary illuminated letters. Kay also explores the combination of abstract watermedia with evolving personal variations of pen and brush letters. Recent work includes watercolors that reflect her joy in the world of nature without words or letters as she loses herself in color.
