Billy Herrin + Nikki Chenault

Nikki Chenault

Nikki Chenault specializes in blackand-white, sepia toned and hand tinted photographs. “I believe that there is a fairness, a straightforwardness to black-andwhite photography. Because we lead such fast-paced lives, we miss seeing the simple images which make up our world.Taking notice of them and being able to capture them at that moment in time is my goal. “Each of my images captures an event in my life. Each photograph is a gift, releasing the intrinsic beauty of the moment. Being attentive to and mindful of the present, I am able to connect with the event or subject in a way not previously possible. My goal is to capture the sacredness of the here-and-now, always cultivating the unexpected... the passed by... the overlooked”.

Billy Herrin

Having retired from a fulfilling career as an architect in 2001, Billy Herrin rekindled an “itch” to do watercolors.  Primarily painting landscape subjects, his architectural background is evident in his sense of perspective, color and scale. His paintings are presently being shown at the HAL Gallery and Gallery 440 in Savannah, Georgia. In 2005, three of his paintings were chosen for the Unique Views of Huntsville Exhibit at the Huntsville Museum of Art.  Realizing that watercolor is a most fickle and demanding medium, he has attended many painting seminars and continues to regularly attend classes with Chuck Long in Huntsville.
