Locally, she is most well-known for her unique compositions and her use of vibrant color. I feel in color, she has said when asked about her palette selections. From viewing her art, as well as speaking with her in person, it is evident that the emotion she most often wishes to share is that of joy. I feel joy when I work in art, whether it is in paint or clay or whatever medium calls to me at the moment. I want others to feel this joy-from my art and from exploring their own creativity. |
| Renee also encourages others to find their creative voice and shares her artistic experiences as she teaches classes across the area. She began the Art Ministry at Whitesburg Baptist Church (WBC) R.O.C. in 2001 and was instrumental in beginning the popular Hampton Cove Elementary School Cove Art League (C.A.L.), which still continues to enhance the students arts education, as well as being a valuable source of income for the HCPTA. | ![]() |

Renee has also developed art programs for teaching developmentally challenged adults and children. She continues her art education and shares her knowledge and experience with others by teaching original concept classes for children and adults at the Huntsville Museum of Art, the Huntsville Art League (HAL), WBC R.O.C., the United Cerebral Palsy center on Max Luther Drive, and private/semi-private lessons at her home. She is beginning her second year as a teaching artist with VSA of Alabama, a member of the international network of VSA Arts. |
| Often, hidden information is included in the artwork. Her art is influenced by many things--her Native American heritage, love of color, shape, and line, and her desire to help others be happy. | ![]() |

I know that sounds simplistic, Renee says, but so many studies have proven that art and color benefit our lives as individuals and as a community. During this years Alabama Clay Conference, Renee discovered that she also shares a particular aspect of her artistic talent with a group of other artists: Synesthetia. Synesthetes are people who experience two or more senses at the same time taste with sight, sound with touch, etc. This is the first seemingly rational explanation as to why I feel in color, and hear music in color and shape. I have always looked at this as being a special gift. |
| The passion for art is a blessing for which I will forever be grateful. The individuals that art has brought me in contact with--fellow artists, collectors, and students- have greatly enriched my life. It is that richness of existence, that joy from the simple, everyday things that I wish to share through my art. | ![]() |
