Subdued Surprise

The Advancers

Most recently he has been enthused about creating fine art prints with the Inchiostro Technique. “Inchiostro” is an art media process utilizing a digitized image, manipulated by the artist on an “electronic plate". The piece is transferred to paper using only black ink. After the print is examined by the artist it may be re-worked until a bon a' tier is produced for limited edition printings. The Inchiostro technique is more than printing an image on paper; it is more importantly a disciplined approach using the artist’s aesthetics and creative talents to produce the art piece on the “plate”. It is only after the plate is worked to the satisfaction of the artist that the precision printing begins.
A STATEMENT OF ART

“I work diligently at the craft of photography and printmaking and believe the title of artist is earned by diligence, persistence and knowledgeable execution of the craft.

I’m enthused to work with grayscale ( also known as black and white or monochromic) prints. I prefer to consider subjects without hues to seek and distill the essence of the subject.

"I’ve always had a fascination with light and dark aspects, or the “Chiaroscuro” of subjects and I strive to critically record the elements. This recorded image then becomes a “plate” I rework and refine to produce the fine art print. To paraphrase photographer Ansel Adams – if the image is the score the print is the performance. I strive for an excellent performance.
